Welcome to the Coyote Class!

The Coyote Class is reserved for a small group of children, ages 8 to 13 years old, with wilderness mentor Michael Jaguar Jakobsen (aka Teacher Michael).

This class is for children who are ready to dive deep into nature, learn ancestral (survival) skills, and explore their unique souls & imaginations through music, stories, and theater arts.

Small Class Size

This class will be limited to 8 children. With a smaller mentor to child ratio, we can more easily stay in-tune and connected with each other at all times, and be better suited to tailoring things to each child's need & interests.

Our goal is to create a family atmosphere where our group can coalesce into a little tribe; The Coyote Clan!

A place where each child is included, seen, honored, & respected, for their unique gifts & talents. In this way each member of the tribe becomes empowered, and in turn empowers others.

Skills, Crafts, & Culture

Our Ancestors knew how to live this life to the fullest, without need for stores, money, or electricity. In the Coyote Clan, we will be learning, and deepening our skills in the arts of Fire Making, Hide Tanning, Animal Identification & Tracking, Foraging Edible Plants, Knot Tying, Shelter Building, Orienteering & Compasses, Fishing, & Archery.

In unplugging from "the Matrix", we will also be exploring Natural Time/13 Moon Calendars from around the world (Mayan, Chinese, & Igbo), becoming rooted in our bodies through Yoga & Qi Gong, & learning about healing with herbs, and how to make tinctures, salves, and balms.

Connecting to our Roots, we will be studying our own personal Ancestral lineages, both recent & ancient, and learning the Stories & Folklore of our ancestors, as well as other cultures.

We will also have plenty of time for crafting: leatherwork, beadwork, sewing, carving and more.

Lastly, we will occasionally have guest instructors to teach 2 hour workshops, such as local Native Elders teaching about their cultural crafts and skills, and visit local farms to connect with where our purchased food comes from, and perhaps create a garden of our own.

In May, we will perform a theatrical play, based on the skills & knowledge we have gained throughout the year.

Developing the "Whole Child"

From time to time, as children play together, things can come up; feelings get hurt, or misunderstandings can arise.

When this happens, I will be there to address things right away, and through dialogue, and breath work (if needed), help the child who is upset come back into a relaxed state, and in the process they will learn how to better navigate their own emotions, and better understand themselves & each other as well.
